Consisting out of several provinces (with little autonomy) covering our Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and parts of Michigan and Wisconsin. What program do you use to make your flags? Do you import the flag symbols from the Internet, or do you draw them yourself? Are there any sites you can recommend for flag design theories? I would love to know.
To answer your questions:
1) I generally use Inkscape for flag design. It's free and it uses vector graphics (svgs), which allow for flawless scaling of graphic elements.
2) Yeah, pretty much. Most of the time I try to get svg-files for that but sometimes I have to make due with regular image files, which I then try to convert to an svg-file to make them more versitile.
3) Well, I can just recommend looking at the flag designs of others. deviantArt is a good place to start, alternatehistory.com is another website that has a good flag making community, which can also give you good advice if needed. If you need some inspiration then www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ is the place to go. It lists many historical flags for both countries and regions.
