Parliamentary America - Direct Mandate Seats 2016

Description

A small teaser for an infobox I'm developing about a parliamentary United States of America. The primary chamber of Congress, the House of Representatives, has 638 seats, 438 of which are direct mandate seats (chosen via listed choice voting) and 200 of which are party preference seats. So the US used mixed member proportional, or at least a variant of it.

It should be noted that DC does not directly elect a (voting) member of the House but it does vote according to party preference and it does send two senators to the Senate. This was part of a compromise with the Conservative Party.

Speaking of the Conservative Party, it's one of the three main parties of this USA and is represented with the dark blue. Cyan stands for the centrist United Citizens Party, green stands for the Progressive Party. Other parties exist but none of them have managed to gain direct seats in the House.

Please note that the congressional districts aren't very divergent by design: this is more of a fun side-project than a serious exercise in alternate history.
