Description

The American War of Independence was a long conflict and when it finally ended in 1783 the USA was finally free, albeit it lost parts of the Massachusite region of Maine and some minor parts of the Northwest near Lake Superior. The young republic under the influence of men such as George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams prospered but when a republican revolution occured in France the Americans decided to support their revolutionary brethren by joining the French Revolutionary Wars on France's side. Having been promised most of British North America in case of success, as well as the port of New Orleans in advance, America saw this as an opportunity to expand. However the British were able to defeat the US, leading to the separation of New England (which hadn't supported the so-called War of 1812), the creation of the Second Republic of Vermont (which was forced to secede by the British despite leaning closer to Washington) and the annexation of some more parts of the Northwest Territory.

The early 19th century was a very important one for North America because not only did it saw the War of 1812 but also the independence of Mexico from Spain. The Mexican War of Indepedence, which started in 1810, also saw insurgencies in Spanish Louisiana, which was formally under the control of the General Captain of Cuba. Aaron Burr and Moses Austin became the founding fathers of Missouri and Texas respectivly. Burr led a contingent of political allies into the city of St. Louis in 1811, while Austin did the same in Texas in 1816. Both filibuster states later became allies of the USA, despite ideological differences.

The Kingdom of Missouri in particular became, as the name implies, a monarchy under Aaron Burr. At first King Aaron I dominated the political landscape alone but in later years he weakened his powers, making the country a constitutional monarchy when his daughter Theodosia I was enthroned.

After the North American conflicts came to rest Millerism (later Adventism) and Mormonism emerged as new "American" religions. While Millerists managed to integrate quite well in the American cultural landscape the Mormons under Smith and Young were marginalized, with small but noticable Mormon communities settling in American Illinois and in the Second Republic of Vermont. Some even smaller Mormon communities can be found all over North America.

During the second half of the 19th century slavery ended in North America, being gradually phased out in the USA and in Missouri and Texas. Only in Mississippi, Virginia and South Carolina was notable peaceful resistance, but in the late 1870s they too accepted the end of the "peculiar institution".

Everything else of note can be found on the map itself.

NOTE #2: The original name of this deviation was "America has been Screwed". I changed it to reflect the inlay on the map itself.
